Amy Morton

Amy serves as Deputy Secretary for Elementary and Secondary Education for the PA Department of Education. Prior to that appointment, she was the Executive Director for the Capital Area Intermediate Unit, a regional educational service agency in central Pennsylvania.

Amy’s 26-year career to date includes working as a teacher and administrator in public school districts. She has provided leadership within PDE and at the Capital Area IU in a variety of positions. She has also served as superintendent of record for two career and technical centers.

Amy’s undergraduate degree is in Political Science and American Studies from Dickinson College in Carlisle. She earned her master of science in educational administration from Western Maryland College (now McDaniel College). She received her Superintendent/ Executive Director letter of eligibility through Shippensburg University.

Amy attempts to lead in a collaborative manner and with the students’ best interest guiding her efforts.
